Two Devoted Sisters:
The name CS Cork originates from both of our initials, Carla and Sandra. Our new journey began on a family trip back to our childhood home in Portugal. We were fascinated by the versatility, beauty and uniqueness of the cork material that on November of 2013, we decided to make an addition to our sister store, Jóias de Portugal, which is a modern, contemporary, yet traditional main street jewelry retailer that opened its doors in 1999.
Today, CS Cork has grown into a unique store, full of original and luxurious handbags and accessories all hand made from natural cork fabric. It all started as a family business of four. Our parents began a journey, which we continue to love and cherish. As a team of two sisters working side by side, we aspire to bring great service, personalized care and great value to all customers.
Our goal is to make the most of your shopping experience and continue to bring innovation into both of our stores. We are devoted to gain your trust and business. Come in and visit us!
Cork is the bark (shell) of the cork oak, a noble tree with very special characteristics, which grows mainly in Mediterranean regions, mainly in Portugal, where there are about 1.78 million acres of cork oak forests. It takes about 25 years for the first cork to be extracted from a cork oak tree. Unlike most trees, after this extraction, it regenerates, allowing the cork to be peeled every nine years. The oak tree needs to be stripped of its bark in order to have a long life, interlinking centuries and generations. Making the harvest of cork a renewable and environmentally friendly resource. Our CS Cork accessories are made from a natural, elegant, versatile material obtained from a renewable source that is enhanced rather than destroyed in the process of production. The variations in tone and textures makes each item a unique one. Like in Nature, no two things are exactly alike.
